OUTDOOR IMMERSION SUMMER CAMPS
for ages 4 to 9 years
"Let the children be free; encourage them; let them run outside when it is raining; let them remove their shoes when they find a puddle of water; and when the grass of the meadows is wet with dew, let them run on it and trample it with their bare feet; let them rest peacefully when a tree invites them to sleep beneath its shade; let them shout and laugh when the sun wakes them in the morning."

A Children's Habitat offers four sessions of Outdoor Immersion Summer Camp, where children are invited to participate in outdoor-oriented activities geared to stimulate an appreciation for our natural environment. Activities include harvesting and preparing food from our school garden; rock, plant, and animal identification; learning the needs and relationships of our environment and universe; and a variety of arts and crafts centered around these ideas. Each week will have a focused theme with planned curriculum, but student-led activities are also encouraged.
Outdoor Immersion camps are held in our Outdoor Classroom and run Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM or children ages 4 through 9 years of age. Campers will need to bring a sack lunch each day.
3-TO-6 SUMMER CAMPS
for ages 3 to 6 years
Summer camps for ages 3 to 6 years run Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM. A snack will be provided, but please pack an additional snack as your child/ren may be hungry before the end of our time together. All campers must be potty trained.Get ready to explore foods from around the globe! Each day children will learn about a different region and its cuisine and prepare dishes to enjoy together. Children leave the week with their own recipe book to continue the kitchen fun and skills at home!
We regret that COOKING AROUND THE WORLD is not currently recommended for children with severe food allergies.
June 18–22, 2018
Botany, zoology, biology...oh my! Inspired by Dr. Maria Montessori's belief that, "We especially need imagination in science. It is not all mathematics, nor logic, but it is somewhat beauty and poetry,"" children will revel in discovery this week. We will explore a different area of science each day and make many different scientific discoveries, including a few surprises along the way.
EARLY YEARS SUMMER CAMPS
for ages 18 months to 3 years
Summer camps for ages 18 months to 3 years run Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM. A snack will be provided, but please pack an additional snack as your child/ren may be hungry before the end of our time together.
For each Early Years camp, your child will need:
Diapers and wipes, if required. Please place these in a large zippered plastic bag and label with your child's name.
Extra clothing. Please place these in a large zippered plastic bag and label with your child's name. Please label EACH item of clothing.
Appropriate shoes. Sturdy, athletic shoes, rubber boots, or closed-toed sandals are necessary for a safe, fun experience at this age.
Play clothing. We're going to get messy. Paint, glue, and other supplies may stain or damage clothing.
ART MEETS NATURE
June 11–15, 2018
Opportunities abound as we explore our Outdoor Classroom to gather elements from nature to create individual and group works of art! Dr. Maria Montessori believed that, "When children come into contact with nature, they reveal their strength." Our hope for this week is to provide a time for children to strengthen their awareness and beauty in their own work and creative abilities, through exploration and manipulation of natural materials.
MOVEMENT IN COLOR
June 18–22, 2018
Celebrate gross motor movement and color identification with us! Children will come in contact with bright, beautiful color as they develop their physical skills—running, jumping, climbing and balancing in the classroom and on our outdoor playground. We will embrace Dr. Maria Montessori’s concept that, "Play is the work of the child," in this active, fun week.
Please direct all summer camp questions to Camp Coordinator, Liz Williams or to the ACH office.
